The Greenhorns is "a small grass-roots organization, based on a farm in the Hudson Valley of New York" with a mission "to recruit, promote and support young farmers across America." Naturally I'm a big fan, so I was really excited to learn that the group was organizing an event in Washington D.C. Originally, the event included an urban farms bike tour in addition to a screening of Severine von Tscharner Fleming's film The Greenhorns. The bike tour was canceled due to heavy rain storms, to be rescheduled for a later date (stay tuned!). But the screening still ran at Latelier Theater in Georgetown. The event included an impressive assortment of food, made with local ingredients, accompanied by a live performance from D.C.'s Second String Band. Curious to see the film? Request a screening in your area! You can also follow news and events at The Greenhorn blog.
